GENERAL NURSING MIDWIFERY (GNM):
It is a Diploma course, commonly just known as GNM course.
Duration: The course is 3½ years long. Academic program is of 3 years and 6 months are dedicated towards internship. Internship is mandatory. After completing this course, successful candidates may register themselves as registered nurse or midwife with state nurse registration council.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Age limit: A candidate must be at least 17 years of age. Applicant must not be more than 35 years of age.
Educational qualifications: According to the website of Indian Nursing Council, 10+2 Science stream Biology group (PCB) passed students are the most preferred ones. However, it has also been mentioned that 10+2 Arts stream passed students are also eligible to pursue this course. Minimum aggregate marks required may vary from one institute to another. Usually, it is around 40-50% marks.
Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM):
It is a diploma course which focuses on the study of health care of various individuals. It also taught about how to take care of equipment, setting up of Operation Theater, provide medication timely to patient and maintain records.
ANM course trains the students & make them capable to work as basic health workers. ANM graduates main focus is given towards the treatment of children, women & old age people.
Auxiliary nurse midwife is a village-level female health worker in India who is known as the first contact person between the community and the health services. ANMs are regarded as the grass-roots workers in the health organization pyramid. Their services are considered important to provide safe and effective care to village communities. The role may help communities achieve the targets of national health programmes
Relationship with ASHA
The Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) is a community health worker. Depending on the area covered by the sub-centre, each ANM is supported by four or five ASHAs. ANMs are supposed to take weekly or fortnightly meeting with ASHAs to review work done the last week or fortnight. ANMs guide ASHAs on aspects of health care.
With the Anganwadi Worker (AWW), the ANM acts as a resource person for the training of ASHAs. The ANM motivates ASHAs to bring beneficiaries to the institution. The ASHA brings pregnant women to the ANM for check-ups. She also brings married couples to the ANM for counseling on the family planning. The ASHA brings children to immunization sessions held by the ANM. The ASHA act as bridge between the ANM and the village.

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS Course in Bangladesh 2020
You can apply for GNM course after passing 10+2 with PCB group from any recognized board and for ANM course you can apply after passing 10th or 10+2 from science or arts stream. Some colleges and institutions organize entrance exam for providing admissions while some other college’s gives admission on the basis of interview and marks obtained in the 10+2.
