Wilson College looks like its come right out of a movie! Located right opposite to sea-face, this college will leave you mesmerized with its old-school charm.

Wilson College is situated in Mumbai in Maharashtra state of India. Established in 1832, it is accredited from NAAC and it is affiliated to University of Mumbai. b'Wilson College', Mumbai offers 5 courses across 4 streams namely Science, IT, Management, Arts and across 4 degrees like BSc, BA, BMS, BMM.Hostel facility is available for its students. Additional campus facilities such as Canteen, Computer Lab, Gymkhana, Library, Cls. Room, Grounds, Seminar Hall, Hostel are also there.

Today Wilson College is one of the few colleges in Mumbai which offer an array of subjects in the Arts, Science and Vocational stream, along with undergraduate courses in Management Studies, Mass Media, Biotechnology, Computer Science and Information Technology.The students of Wilson College are from nearly every ethnic, religious and social groups in India and of other countries of world. Our extremely diverse student body is our strength and source of pride contributing to an open learning environment.Wilson College has witnessed the turn of two centuries. Wilson College which begin in 1832, predates the Mumbai University by 25 years which was established in 1857. As a tribute to the journey of this diminutive school started at the residence of our founder Dr. John Wilson, to develop into a multi – disciplined University affiliated college, the Postal Department, Government of India honoured both its founder and the institution by issuing a Special Day Postal Cover in 2004. In 2007 to commemorate the completion of its 175 glorious years, a stamp and first day cover of Wilson College was issued.With great pride, we state that Wilson college was accredited with ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2004 and then re-accreditedwith ‘A’ grade in 2011.

Ranking

Wilson College has been ranked 4th, 23rd and 33rd for BBA, Science and Humanities studies respectively.  The ranking is based upon India Today’s list of top colleges in India 2012.  While the BBA rankings have only been introduced last year, the Science department moved up 13 places from the last time it featured in the list at 42nd in 2010, and dropped 10 places from 19th in 2009. The Humanities department moved up 11 places from 50th in 2010, which is the only other time the college featured in the poll.  Admission is based on merit basis and it is not easy getting into Wilson with many students vying for a seat at the college.

Architecture

The college is known for its Gothic style architecture.  The high ceiling classrooms remind students of the history of this college.  The deep verandas overlooking Girgaum Chowpatty and the liberal use of red terracotta tiles on the first floor only add to the charm.  The entrance lobby has a grand staircase which was designed by erstwhile architect John Adams.  Most of the architecture is awe-inspiring.

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell is functioning actively by providing regular placements, internships and career guidance programmes. Talks on jobs opportunities and career counselling for various industries like IT, Banking, Insurance, Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals etc. are organised on a regular basis. The Career Guidance and Placement Cell provides well-developed infrastructural facilities in the college to the corporate sector for conducting campus recruitment programmes. Every year number of students getting placement and internship is increasing.

Students in some departments have to undergo corporate internships after they complete their second year which enables them to get corporate exposure as well as get better job prospects after their graduation.

Wilson College UG Eligibility

Candidates should have a pass in Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) examination or 10+2 conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination. 45% marks in aggregate for open category candidates. Reserved category candidates should secure 40% marks in aggregate.
