Scope of MBA / PGDM in 2020!

Let me start by saying that there is nothing called as 'scope'. There is always room/possibilities for knowledgeable, having good IQ, EQ people in any industry. “Survival of the fittest” is the mantra of this ever changing era. Mostly students’ doe’s mistake is to get influenced by their peer group or follow the crowd, focus on salary whereas as a student one should identify the areas where he/she can excel, find strength and then look at functions which require skills.

No doubts MBA or Post Graduate Degree in Management (PGDM) is the most aspired academic or professional course in our country after United States of America (USA). Due to extensive streams in management, the career possibilities are vast, involving a rich and most desirable future in the top most MNCs and banks, and at strong positions with some great responsibilities making the management sector one of the great streams to look forward too.

Now take a glimpse over some studies:

  • According to NABARD, by 2020, India will have the largest young workforce.
  • According to a task force comprising AIMA, the Confederation of Indian Industry, and The Boston Consulting Group: India’s new opportunity - 40 million new jobs and $200 Billion Annual revenue

With such a tremendous growth and opportunity in coming years, it would be natural for aspirants, students, job-seekers to evaluate their education decisions and enquire – is this really a good time to get an MBA?

Changes that will keep MBA in Demand in coming years:

ü  International Investment in India / influx of FDI

                       ü  Growth in multiple Sectors

                       ü  The start-up buzz

In my view apart from traditional MBA specialization there are specializations that are not only interesting but are highly in demand as well like:

  1. Hospitality Management
  2. Hospital Management
  3. Entrepreneurship Management
  4. Real Estate Management
  5. Communication and Public Relation Management
  6. Information Technology Management

Thus, impeccable management is inevitable for any smooth and legally secure, steadily thriving, and lucrative & growth-oriented business or service, regardless of the economic field. Depending upon their respective levels of degrees in management and the specialization areas/fields, the management executives can serve a company/firm from the entry-level to top management-level positions and can achieve a rather progressive and well-paying career in the field concerned. To achieve these skills, MBA aspirants need to do some research before taking admissions or choosing specializations. Colleges with competent faculty, industry tie-ups and with the ability to adapt based on industry inputs and foresight will have a significant edge in providing quality business education in this decade. Considering the factors causing a mighty demand for business school graduates, 2020-2025 indeed looks like an opportune time to get an MBA! So, this again, is a chance for MBA aspirants to unfurl their sails when the winds are favorable.

Good Wishes..!!!
